Khwaabon Ka Jhamela : Promising Rom-Com Falls Short on Chemistry

With an odd title like that, I didn't know what to expect from this direct-to-JioCinema release!! It turned out to be a rom-com peppered with slice of life elements.

Based on some Canadian flick which probably no one saw, Khwaabon Ka Jhamela has an interesting premise but whiles away that opportunity due to predictable writing and lacklustre execution. Its kinda sad that a film, which has its main character working as an intimacy coordinator, isn't able to conjure a sizzling chemistry between its own lead pair.

Not the actors' fault though. Prateik Babbar and Sayani Gupta, both competent artists, have pitched in earnest performances as Zubin and Ruby, respectively. Zubin, an accountant, is a loser in love and hopeless in bed. His fianceè (Kubbra Sait, wasted) dumped him before marriage as she dozed off while having sex with him. Aww!! Next, Ruby helps Zubin get "better" in bed while he helps her handle her financial mess.

As aforementioned, the performances are all fine. Particularly, Sayani makes the best of the meaty role offered to her after long time. She truly excels as the bold and brazen Ruby, whose real name turns out to be Rubaiyat. Her interaction with her estranged pappa also makes for a touching scene.

Not bad for a one time watch and not too good to recommend. Khwaabon Ka Jhamela could do with a better title... and probably, more physical intimacy in it!!
