Made in India, taking the world by storm – a journey from Bombay to the Big Apple
uppercase, a Bombay-born sustainable travel gear brand made heads turn globally, by becoming the first Indian brand in the category to walk the ramp at New York Fashion Week.
You know a brand has reached the pinnacle of design and fashion when it is invited for a showcase at The fashion event of the year. The oh-so-stylish bags - chic backpacks, vibrant trolleys and standout messenger bags, definitely grabbed a lot of eyeballs on the runway. And this isn’t all. uppercase also exclusively launched a couple of its new ranges at the NYFW.
uppercase came into being nearly three years ago, with the mission of addressing three critical aspects that the category hadn’t yet figured out – design, sustainability and indigeneity. And that’s how it became a 100% made in India, design audacious and sustainable travel gear brand. This took the entire space by storm, because, until then, no one thought that luggage could look stylish, be good for the planet, and be 100% Indian (from design to delivery).
As the brilliant display on the ramp made heads turn in awe and admiration, for the brand, it was a celebration and recognition of all that it has achieved – literally and metaphorically. uppercase is a great example of all that is possible, if you choose to step outside the box and look at the bigger picture. With the who’s who of the fashion world gushing about how cool and standout the bags looked, for the uppercase team, this was a moment of pride and inspiration alike – for all that they have accomplished, and for all that they still want to.
