Marie Claire, the international fashionistas' bible, gets a new tagline
Marie Claire, the bible of international fashionistas †founded in Paris in 1937, and now available in 34 global editions †has a new tagline: "Think Smart, Look Amazing". The change was heralded by actor Bipasha Basu, who recently launched Marie Claire's April 2010 Globetrotter Glam Special issue and announced the new tagline. The magazine had arrived in India in 2006 with the tagline, "Let Me Be Me". Actor Preity Zinta was its first cover girl.
The magazine has a new editor as well: Nina Haridas. She said it was fitting that Bipasha was launching the Globetrotter special issue and declaring the change in the tagline. The event had taken place at Mumbai's Le Sutra, the first Indian art hotel.
"The size zero propaganda is very disturbing and for my part, I will only stress on the word fit rather than on thin," Bipasha has been quoted as saying on the occasion. "Size zero works only for petite women. Skinny is passé, real women have curves. At the same time, curves cannot mean belly fat. What's more disturbing than belly fat is the way the media discusses size zero. Granted it is the smallest size, but one must realise that one size cannot fit all."
