MIAMI Ad School launches strategy bootcamp for Mumbai & Bengaluru

Miami Ad School has announced the launch of its highly anticipated Strategy Bootcamp, which commenced on 28 September 2024, at both its Mumbai and Bangalore campuses, simultaneously.

This innovative program is designed to equip aspiring strategists with the essential skills needed to thrive in today’s competitive advertising landscape.

The Mumbai bootcamp was led by Shipra Chinchankar, Executive Vice President, Mullen Lintas, while Sushma Rao, Executive Vice President at Mullen Lintas, conducted the sessions in Bangalore. Both facilitators bring a wealth of experience in strategy planning, ensuring that participants receive top-notch training.

The history of strategy planning in advertising is marked by key figures like the author Stephen King’s planning guide implemented by JWT and Stanley Pollitt from BMP, both of whom are often credited as the pioneers of this discipline.

King and Pollitt’s influential 1968 meeting in London sparked important conversations about the significance of understanding consumer responses to advertising—a concept that ultimately led to the establishment of dedicated strategy planning departments.

Reflecting on the necessity of strategic thinking, Stephen King famously stated:

  • "Account executives are too busy running the show."

  • "They are no more objective about the client’s business than the client."

  • "Media people are too absorbed."

  • "Creative people are not good at analysis."

Today, strategic thinking is vital for success across all industries, providing professionals with the tools to advance their careers and drive impactful business outcomes.

Talking about this innovative program, Prabhakar Mundkur, Advisory Director, Miami Ad School, said, “I am thrilled to kick-off the Strategy Bootcamp. I was a planner myself once. So I appreciate the role of strategic thinking in marketing and advertising.”
