Mirzapur S3 is most-watched Hindi web series in 2024: Ormax Media

Ormax Media’s latest report, Streaming Originals in India: The 2024 Story, highlights the top-performing content across web series, films, and unscripted programming on streaming platforms. The report sheds light on the viewing habits of Indian audiences, showcasing the growing dominance of platforms like Prime Video, Netflix, and JioCinema.

Most-Watched Hindi Web Series

Prime Video’s Mirzapur Season 3 claimed the top spot in 2024, surpassing an impressive 30 million views. The series solidified its place as a cultural phenomenon, outperforming other popular titles such as Panchayat Season 3 and Netflix’s Heeramandi.

Prime Video and Netflix dominated the Top 15 Most-Watched Hindi Web Series list, securing five entries each. This trend reflects their stronghold in India’s rapidly evolving streaming market.

Most-Watched Hindi Films

In the direct-to-OTT Hindi films category, Netflix emerged as the clear leader, capturing 11 of the top 15 spots, including the top eight positions. The most-watched title, Do Patti, garnered 15.1 million views, followed by Sector 36 with 13.9 million and Sikandar Ka Muqaddar with 13.5 million views.

Most-Watched Indian Unscripted Content

The unscripted category witnessed JioCinema’s Bigg Boss OTT Season 3 dominating with 17.8 million views, followed by The Great Indian Kapil Show (15.7 million views) and Shark Tank India Season 3 (12.5 million views).

This category showcased a diverse mix of formats, including TV extensions, documentaries, game shows, and influencer-driven reality shows, highlighting the audience’s growing appetite for non-fiction entertainment.

Most-Watched International Shows

Netflix’s Squid Game Season 2 emerged as the most-watched international original in India for 2024, with 19.6 million views. It also became the most-watched international show of all time in the country. Other notable mentions include The Boys Season 4 (10.5 million views) and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 (8.8 million views).

The list was dominated by established franchises, with seven out of the top 10 entries belonging to well-known series, reaffirming the Indian audience’s preference for familiar and iconic narratives.

Most-Watched International Films

The international film category witnessed a subdued performance in 2024, with no major breakout hits. Prime Video’s Road House led the pack with 6 million views, followed by Netflix’s Spaceman (4.8 million views) and The Idea of You (4.7 million views). Prime Video led the Top 10 list with six entries, while Netflix contributed four.
