NBA All-Star Weekend begins on 24th February

The NBA’s much awaited All Star weekend will be held at Orlando this year. The All-Star Weekend which consists of three days and nights of basketball activities and exhibitions will culminate with the NBA All-Star Game being held on Sunday night. The major events along with the NBA All-Star Game are the Slam Dunk competition and the Three-point shootout as well as the All-Star Celebrity Game.  This year fans in India will be able to watch all three days of the All-Star Weekend on Ten Sports.

The All-Star Game will see the very best of the world’s basketball players play against each other with the likes of Kobe Bryant, Blake Griffin and Chris Paul playing for the Western Conference going against Lebron James, Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard of the Eastern Conference. In his fourteenth All-Star appearance, Kobe Bryant will be vying for his fifth All-Star MVP title having won his fourth in the 2011 All-Star Game.

The NBA All-Star weekend begins on Friday with the Rising Stars Challenge which matches two teams of the league’s top rookies and second-year players as well as the All-Star Celebrity Game. Saturday will showcase the Skills Challenge, Three-point Shootout and the fan favorite Slam Dunk Contest, which saw Blake Griffin jump over a car and dunk the ball as his final dunk last year to help him win the title.

This year the Slam Dunk Contest will feature the Houston Rockets’ Chase Budinger, the Indiana Pacers’ Paul George, Iman Shumpert of the New York Knicks, and Derrick Williams of the Minnesota Timberwolves. For the first time a new single-round format in which the winner will be chosen solely by fan vote has been introduced while also allowing fans to able to vote via Twitter.

Adding to the celebrations, music sensations like Pitbull, Nicki Minaj, Mary J. Blidge and Ne-Yo will be performing during the All-Star weekend.
