NEO Cricket announced the winner of its Sports Inventor contest

NEO Cricket has announced the winner of the unique contest, Sports Inventor, initiated by them in association with Intel. The contest was a platform to provide innovative minds to present their ideas on a technology that would change the face of sports.

The winner of the contest was Manish Sahu and the idea that won him the award was a Batting Simulator. It is a simulator in which a virtual reality 3D environment of a cricket match is created. The user of the simulator with a real bat in his hands faces a virtual bowler and gets the experience of the ground conditions without actually being out there.

Mautik Tolia, Executive Vice President ' Programming, NEO Sports Broadcast Pvt. Ltd., said, "The response to the contest has been overwhelming. We received entries from all corners of India. Ideas flowed in from people of all ages and professions. Sports Inventor is a contest like no other. We aspired to bring together sports, technology and true sports fans. At the same time, our aim was to help these fans make a difference to the sport they love."

The contestants came up with all sorts of innovative ideas amongst which the other winners were, Manish Agrawal with the "Cheer Reader' that measures a player's popularity and Subramaniam Aiyyar with "Futuristic Football' which removes all human error from the football refereeing process.
