New COO of Discovery Communications: Peter Liguori

Recently, Discovery Communications had announced the appointment of industry veteran Peter Liguori as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the company. Most recently he was a President of Fox Broadcasting Entertainment.

Liguori will join Discovery on January 19 2010. He will be reporting to President and CEO David Zaslav. His responsibilities will include - overseeing Discovery's marketing, corporate communications, business affairs and media technology, production and operations.

Besides this he will also represent the company in its joint ventures, including its relationship with Oprah Winfrey's network OWN.

Liguori replaces Mark Hollinger, who last week assumed the role of President and CEO of Discovery Networks International.
