Niki Aneja, in sheer contrast, makes a ROCKING comeback at Zee Rishtey Awards 2010

It was time to pause and look back with pangs of nostalgia at the 18 glorious years that Zee TV has touched the lives of the audience when the channel hosted Zee Rishtey Awards 2010 in Mumbai recently. It doesn’t come as a surprise then that Zee invited the TV stars of yesteryears, Navneet Nishan and Niki Aneja to perform at the awards ceremony after all these years.

It’s been over a decade since Nishan became a household name as Tara and Aneja caught the fancy of millions of men across the country as Dr. Simran, the gynaecologist in love with a younger man in Astitva – Ek Prem Kahani. But the two characters remain finely etched in the minds of an entire generation that followed the shows religiously in the 90’s.

While Niki, who’s settled down in London for the last few years and is all set to make a comeback on the small screen, took active interest in every aspect of her dance act for the awards ceremony- be it the choreography or the clothes, down to the last detail such as her hair and make-up, Navneet was busy offering the channel innumerable excuses for not dancing. First it was arthritis, then a fear of heights and many more….

Boy, it’s no wonder then that Niki walked away with all the applause as she sashayed away to Madhuri’s Aaja Nachle looking gorgeous in a purple sharara while Navneet merely walked and waved through her performance. Don’t pout, Navneet … all you had to do was rehearse some and join the gang to dance and they would’ve lo.ved your act just as much!
