OHO Radio partners with Dettol for youth-led climate podcast
Reckitt, the global leader in health and hygiene, in collaboration with Plan India and OHO Radio, has launched India’s first school radio podcast focused on climate change. The initiative, a part of Dettol Banega Swasth India’s flagship Dettol Climate Resilient School program, aims to empower young minds to become climate advocates while promoting Mission LiFE—a call for sustainable lifestyles to build climate resilience.
The Dettol School Radio Podcast, co-created with schoolchildren across Uttarakhand, was launched at Raj Bhawan, Dehradun, in the presence of Hon’ble Lt. General Gurmit Singh, Governor of Uttarakhand. The podcast, hosted by RJ Kaavya, serves as a platform for students to discuss environmental issues, inspire community action, and enhance their communication skills.
In his keynote address, Lt. General Gurmit Singh emphasized the importance of empowering youth to lead the way in environmental conservation. “This initiative is timely and aligns perfectly with Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nine key pledges for climate and cultural conservation, announced on Uttarakhand Foundation Day. Uttarakhand’s biodiversity and traditions intertwine with its people’s lives, and this project ensures that our children become the torchbearers of our legacy, representing the state on global platforms such as UNFCCC CoP 29,” he said.
The podcast will feature 24 episodes, broadcast every Sunday from 11 AM to 12 PM on OHO Radio. Students, acting as junior RJs, will discuss topics ranging from climate change to health and hygiene. Speaking on the occasion, RJ Kaavya said, “Through the OHO Radio platform, children will host episodes to spread valuable messages about cleanliness, wellness, and sustainable practices. Their voices will inspire communities to adopt healthier, more responsible lifestyles, fostering a vision of a cleaner, greener India.”
Ravi Bhatnagar, Director of External Affairs and Partnerships, SoA, Reckitt, highlighted the role of youth in driving change: “At Reckitt, we believe transformation begins when young individuals take ownership of issues affecting their communities. The Dettol School Radio Podcast combines awareness with action, inspiring the next generation to adopt sustainable practices for the benefit of society and the planet. I am honored to see this vision come to life with the support of the Uttarakhand government and our young climate advocates.”
The initiative aligns closely with India’s green goals and aims to deepen environmental awareness among children while fostering leadership skills. The project will also provide 1,300 scholarships, engaging students across Uttarakhand’s 12 districts to explore local solutions for protecting nature.
RJ Kaavya said: "Today, the Dettol Banega Swasth India School Radio Podcast logo was unveiled by the Hon'ble Governor and Ravi Bhatnagar, Director External Affairs and Partnerships, SOA, Reckitt. This marks a significant step towards raising awareness among children about health and hygiene. Through the OHO Radio platform, children will take on the role of RJ, hosting 24 episodes every Sunday from 11 AM to 12 PM, spreading valuable messages on cleanliness and wellness. Their voices will help promote health and hygiene across the country, contributing to the vision of a healthier India. The presence of the Hon'ble Governor and Mr. Ravi Bhatnagar made this launch even more inspiring and impactful."
This collaboration between Reckitt, Plan India, and OHO Radio represents a unique fusion of education, sustainability, and technology. By amplifying children’s voices, the Dettol Climate Resilient School project strengthens efforts to combat climate change and ensures the next generation becomes active stewards of the environment.
