Piyush Pandey becomes first Indian to be honored with LIA Legend Award
Piyush Pandey, the Executive Chairman India & the Chief Creative Officer Worldwide, Ogilvy has become the first Indian to receive the LIA Legend Award, a global award introduced in the year 2023.
The award is bestowed to an industry leader of the past or at present who by the means of their vision, generosity and talent have a proven track record of exceptional creativity at all levels. Besides they display an eagerness to share, develop and mentor others focussing on creative thinking and progress in the industry in every sector.
Prior to joining Ogilvy in 1982, Pandey played cricket for Rajasthan, had experience in construction, tea tasting. He has been serving as the Executive Chairman of Ogilvy since the year 2004 and has taken Indian advertising to the world stage. He has received more than 600 national and international awards and in 2010, he got awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Advertising Agencies Association of India. He was also the first Asian to be become a part of the Cannes jury in 2024.
The President of India recognised his contributions with the Padma Shri, the Indian National Civilian Award in 2016. At the International Festival of Creativity at Cannes in 2018, he and his brother, Prasoon Pandey have received the Lion of St Mark award. He has taken the role of a mentor at The Berlin School of Creative Leadership for many years. He worked with the Government of India and UNICEF to make India free from polio and in 2014, India was declared as a polio free country.
