Rajkummar Rao on why ‘Stree 2’s success won’t change him

After the huge success of ‘Stree 2’, Rajkummar Rao is gearing up for his next release, ‘Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’, which is set to release on October 11. This comedy drama features Tripti Dimri as he female lead, along with Mallika Sherawat, Archana Puran Singh, Vijay Raaz and many others. Promoted as a ‘Parivarik film’, ‘Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ is directed by Raaj Shaandliyaa and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Ektaa Kapoor, Vipul D Shah, Ashwin Varde, Rajesh Bahl, and Vimal Lahori.

This is Rajkummar’s fourth release this year after ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’, ‘Srikant’ and the recently released horror comedy ‘Stree 2’, which has been creating new box office records with each passing day. Rajkummar maintained that despite delivering back to back hits, things have not really changed for him.

He said, “We are very happy that ‘Stree 2’ got such a good response and achieved so much success. The only thing that has changed is the love of people towards the film – the box office figures mean that these many people have watched your film. The love that I have received from the people via messages and calls and on social media has been overwhelming. Several people have told me that this feels like a personal victory for them. A lot of people also said that they are connected with my journey, and that my win is like their win. “You give us a lot of hope,” they have told me. All this has made me very emotional. Other than this, nothing has really changed for me.”

Continuing further, he said, “Three days after the release of ‘Stree 2’, I started shooting for my next film, ‘Maalik’. I love what I do and that will never change, irrespective of whether the film earns Rs 100 or Rs 500 or Rs 5,000 crore. It all depends on destiny – if it’s a good film, it will receive love from the audience. I do my work honestly as an actor, which I have been doing since my first film till now and will continue to do so.”
