Ruslaan Review: A Desi Spy Thriller with Twists and Turns!

A new RAW recruit called Ruslaan unearths a deadly conspiracy to attack aamchi Mumbai. Move over Pakistan, China is the villain at play this time. What ensues is an adventure à la 007... or Salman's Tiger back home!!

Indeed, Ruslaan could have easily passed off as Salman Khan’s next Eid release. But it has not Bhai but his Jijaji Aayush Sharma at the helm. Admittedly, the guy is earnest in the titular role, infusing the right amount of physicality and emotional quotient in to the character.

Vidya Malvade, best remembered for Chak De India (2007), shows up as Ruslaan's beautiful boss. Sushrii Shreya Mishraa plays the desi Bond girl to perfection. She oozes sensuality in the honey trap scene. Jagapathi Babu is okey dokey as the foster father and this sub plot seems borrowed from Vidhu Vinod Chopra's far superior Mission Kashmir (2000).

The action set pieces are decently choreographed and there is a twist in the climax too. Ruslaan may not be great cinema but it serves as a one time watch for action buffs!!
