Sameer Gogate joins JioStar as Business Head of Colors

Sameer Gogate, former General Manager of India Productions at BBC Studios, has been named Business Head of Colors at JioStar, as announced in an internal communication, according to media reports.

Gogate played a pivotal role at BBC Studios from July 2019 to January 2025. During his tenure, he led the production of local adaptations of renowned BBC formats, including Criminal Justice, Broken News (Press), and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (Dancing With the Stars). He also oversaw original projects such as Highway Love, Ishq in the Air, School of Lies, Kaisi Hai Yariyan, Tujhpe Main Fida, and the recent hit Shekhar Home.

Prior to BBC Studios, Gogate served as Head of Revenue and Business Development at Vuclip, a leading video-on-demand service, starting in January 2017. Before that, he was Chief Development Officer at Eros International Media, where he focused on original content investments.

Earlier in his career, Gogate headed the Films Division at Endemol India, spearheading the company’s entry into Bollywood and Southern cinema. He also held significant roles at Viacom18, overseeing commercial operations for Colors and managing syndication and acquisitions for Viacom18 Motion Pictures.
