Sanjeev Mehta exits Standard Chartered after 17 years to launch exciting new venture

After a 17-year tenure with Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), Sanjeev Mehta stepped down as Managing Director and Head of Transaction Banking Sales for Corporate, Commercial & Institutional Banking for South Asia at the end of July 2024. Now, he is preparing to embark on a new chapter in his professional journey with plans to launch a greenfield venture.

Throughout his career at SCB, Mehta made significant contributions to the bank's Indian operations, earning a reputation as a leader in the sector. His decision to leave the corporate world and transition into entrepreneurship marks a pivotal shift in his career. While details of his new venture remain undisclosed, it is expected to tap into his extensive expertise in finance, relationship building, and technology to drive commerce.

With a robust background in financial services, leadership, and strategic development, Mehta is well-positioned to thrive as he steps into the entrepreneurial arena. His departure from SCB comes at a time of rapid change in the Indian financial landscape, offering both challenges and opportunities for new entrants.

Prior to SCB, Mehta served as Country Head for Liabilities Business and Business Banking at Yes Bank from 2005 to 2007. Rising from humble beginnings to become a Managing Director, he has experienced a broad spectrum of the banking industry. His move into entrepreneurship is a bold step, making his journey one to watch closely in the coming years.
