Sky Force : Akshay Kumar soars high in a gripping tribute to unsung heroes
Based on the true story of India's first air strike at Pakistan's Sargodha airbase, Sky Force gives a fitting tribute to the unsung heroes, who sacrificed their lives for our nation. With some powerful performances and well executed air combat sequences, the film will most likely give Akshay Kumar his much needed hit after Sooryavanshi (2021).
Undoubtedly, Kumar is in top form as Wing Commander Ahuja, who mentors air force pilot T. Vijaya (aka Tabby) during the 1965 Indo-Pak war. Tabby goes missing after executing the seemingly impossible Sargodha airstrike. W.C. Ahuja tries his level best to search for his brother like colleague but all efforts seem to go in vain...until he meets a Prisoner of War Pakistani pilot (Sharad Kelkar).
Director duo Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur have kept the proceedings fast and racy at just two hours five minutes runtime and invested in some competent action sequences. The Sargodha air strike is indeed a pulsating cinematic moment to relish on the big screen. Technically too, the film scores in the cinematography and music department.
On the flipside, Sky Force dips a bit in its post interval portion, when Akshay Kumar seeks to find his missing colleague. Having said that, the last ten minutes elevate the film to an altogether high, leaving you moist eyed.
As aforementioned, the performances are first rate. Veer Pahariya makes a confident debut exceling equally in the fight as well as verbose scenes. Here's an actor to watch out for!! Nimrat Kaur leaves a mark even in a special appearance. Sara Ali Khan gets one emotional moment and nails it.
Towering above all is Akshay Kumar, who delivers yet another power packed performance. The role suits him to the T and Akshay makes it his own!! Sky Force is worth a watch for the heart tugging true story it tells. For Akshay Kumar fans, the movie is a must-see just to witness the superstar regain his box office mojo!!
