Sony Sports Network unveils Tamil Cricket Podcast "Cricket Petta"
Sony Sports Network announces Cricket Petta, an all-new Tamil cricket podcast that delves into the world of cricket with a distinct regional twist, marking a first for any sports broadcaster in India. Cricket Petta, meaning "Cricket Locality," is designed to captivate Tamil-speaking cricket enthusiasts, offering lively discussions, stories, and unique perspectives on the sport. This five-episode podcast is hosted by the dynamic Tamil multi-sports commentator, Arun Venugopal, and promises to present cricket’s vibrant legacy through a refreshing, locally-inspired lens.
The premiere episode will be released on October 30, 2024, followed by weekly episodes every Wednesday until November 27, 2024. The podcast will be accessible on major platforms such as YouTube, JioSaavan, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, Gaana, and Hungama.
The inaugural episode, “Is Ashwin the Greatest Player from Tamil Nadu to Represent India?” features engaging discussions with former India Women’s Coach and Tamil Nadu player W.V. Raman, as well as Puducherry and Tamil Nadu cricketer Arun Karthik, who share entertaining anecdotes and insider stories from their experiences with Ashwin, offering fans a rare glimpse into the world of Indian cricket.
Each episode of Cricket Petta will spotlight expert discussions on trending cricket topics and iconic personalities. For instance, former cricketer L. Sivaramakrishnan will analyze the captaincy styles of M.S. Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, while another episode will feature R. Sridhar and Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan debating legendary cricket venues like Eden Gardens and Wankhede Stadium.
