Spice Mobile ropes in Sonam Kapoor

Spice Mobiles is all set to start manufacturing mobile phone in India by the end of this year. The company is looking forward to start the trial production from next month. B.K Modi Group announced young actress Sonam Kapoor as the company's new brand ambassador.

Spice Mobiles Director and CEO Kunal Ahooja said, "We will start trial production next month and start the commercial manufacturing following that by the end of this year." The phone S-1200 will be priced at Rs. 14,500 and has a 12 Mega pixel camera with 3 X optical zoom. Currently only Ericsson and Samsung have 12 MP phones in the market. Spice Mobile has certain other plans for this upcoming year. The company has plans to launch its application store soon.

Anuj Nangia, head, product marketing, Spice Mobile, told that the company is currently working on 2 Android devices, one of which will be available in the market in the 2nd quarter of this year. The company has also entered into an exclusive partnership with Microsoft wherein it will launch some handsets with them. These handsets will be priced under Rs.10, 000 and would run on Windows Mobile 6.5 platform.

He further informed that the company has 250 content partners for music and media. It will work with Spice Digital, which are a value added service provider and a part of Spice Group. With an aggressive production and marketing strategy, Spice Mobiles seems to chase its dream of becoming a $1 billion (Rs. 4,500 crore) company by 2014 with a market share of 10 % with a fast speed.
