Sumanta Bose named Head of Entertainment Cluster for Reliance-Disney JV
Reliance-Disney's joint venture has announced the appointment of Sumanta Bose as the Head of its Entertainment Cluster. In his new role, Bose will oversee key television networks including Star Plus, Star Bharat, and regional channels in Bengali, Marathi, and Gujarati.
Currently the Business Head for the Hindi-speaking Market (HSM) and Content Head for Disney+ Hotstar (Hindi), Bose brings over a decade of experience in the Indian entertainment industry. His tenure has been marked by a strong focus on shaping content, developing iconic characters, and driving growth across major channels and digital platforms.
As leader of the Entertainment Cluster, Bose will work closely with a team of seasoned executives managing various language-specific channels. Among the key leadership appointments within the cluster, Deepak Chhabria will lead Star Plus and Star Utsav, while Harsh Sheth takes charge of Star Bharat. Koustuvi Ghosh will oversee Star Jalsha, and Vivek Modi will manage Colors Bangla and Bengali movie channels. Vipul Nagar will head the Gujarati language business, and Satish Rajwade will look after the Marathi language division.
Further strengthening the leadership team, Pratap Parimi will be responsible for analytics and digital business planning in the Bengali, Marathi, and Gujarati (BMG) markets, while Arnab Deb will manage overall business planning for the entire cluster.
Bose's deep experience with Disney Star, including his pivotal role in fortifying Star Plus and leading Hindi content initiatives for Disney+ Hotstar, places him in a strong position to lead the entertainment cluster. His leadership is expected to enhance the reach and engagement of the joint venture across India's diverse Hindi and regional language markets, catering to the varied entertainment preferences of the Indian audience.
