Sun TV hikes up advertising rates

In a missive to the Bombay Stock Exchange, Sun TV Network, one of India's largest TV networks, announced changes in the advertising the structures of its Telegu, Kannada and Mayalama channels- Gemini TV, Udaya TV and Surya TV respectively, the latter in certain programmes only.

Gemini TV rates are to see a hike between 6%-16%, while Udaya rates will be increased by 20% and Surya TV by 5%.

Earlier stipulated by Sun TV, this hike has been enhanced by sustained viewership of the channels and markedly higher demand for its serials.

The broadcast fee for other content programmes has also been increased, effective January 1, 2010.
