The First Slam Dunk streams on Netflix on August 25

THE FIRST SLAM DUNK, the film that topped the Japanese box office in 2023, is going to be available for streaming in 75 countries from August 25. In Japan, the animated film started streaming exclusively on Netflix on June 10.

Bringing THE FIRST SLAM DUNK to the service is part of Netflix’s ongoing efforts to expand its extensive anime library. This addition joins other acclaimed titles like Suzume and Studio Ghibli Films, providing a broader audience with the opportunity to discover best-in-class anime from Japan.

The film is based on the legendary manga by Takehiko Inoue about a high school basketball team. Written and directed by Inoue himself, the movie depicts the last game that has never been animated before. The blockbuster hit has won many awards, including the Japan Academy Prize for Anime, and has received an overwhelmingly positive response mainly in Asia.
