TRAI extends deadline for comments on Framework for Broadcasting Services

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the last date for receiving comments/ counter-comments on its Consultation Paper on ‘Framework for Service Authorisations for provision of Broadcasting Services under the Telecommunications Act, 2023’.

The last date for receiving written comments on the issues raised in the Consultation Paper from the stakeholders was fixed as November 20, 2024, and for counter-comments as November 27, 2024. Keeping in view the requests of some of the stakeholders for an extension of time for submission of comments, it has been decided to extend the last dates for submission of written comments and counter-comments up to November 27, 2024 and December 4, 2024, respectively.

TRAI had released the Consultation Paper on ‘Framework for Service Authorisations for provision of Broadcasting Services under the Telecommunications Act, 2023’ on October 30, 2024. The consultation paper aims to streamline licensing and service rules across broadcasting services, including DTH, HITS, IPTV, and radio broadcasting.
