Uber unveils ‘Uber for Teens’ in India
Uber has launched ‘Uber for Teens’ in India, a first-of-its-kind ride-hailing solution designed exclusively for teenagers aged 13 to 17 years. The service aims to provide safe, reliable, and independent transportation for teenagers while ensuring parental supervision and control over their rides.
Now available in 37 cities, including Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, and Bhubaneswar, Uber for Teens enables parents to monitor, track, and manage their teenager’s rides in real-time.
Built with Safety and Parental Supervision at its Core
Uber for Teens is structured around a robust safety framework, ensuring that both parents and teens can trust the service. Key safety features include GPS tracking, real-time ride monitoring, and an in-app emergency button for added security.
In addition to these safety measures, parental controls allow guardians to track rides, receive ride summaries, and even request rides on behalf of their teens. This setup provides an extra layer of security and peace of mind for families.
Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India & South Asia, highlighted Uber’s commitment to solving mobility challenges for teenagers, stating: "We recognize the unique transportation needs of Indian families. With Uber for Teens, we are introducing a service that not only empowers teenagers with greater independence but also provides parents with the assurance of safety and supervision."
