Uber launches #UberReads on Delhi shuttles to encourage reading

Uber has introduced the #UberReads campaign on its electric Shuttle buses in Delhi, aiming to promote reading among commuters. This innovative initiative features popular books and best-selling titles from Penguin Random House India, available on the new fleet of air-conditioned electric buses. The campaign encourages passengers to enjoy a good book instead of doomscrolling on their smartphones during their journey.

Uber Shuttle offers convenient features such as pre-booked seats, cashless payments, and live tracking of the bus's location through the Uber app. The #UberReads buses will operate on predefined routes connecting key business districts and residential areas in Delhi for a month-long duration.

Amit Deshpande, Head of High Capacity Vehicles at Uber India and South Asia, emphasized the campaign's goal of promoting shared rides and mindful reading. He said: “Uber Shuttle not only offers comfort and convenience but also helps reduce road congestion. Through #UberReads, in partnership with Penguin, we aim to highlight the benefits of choosing shared rides and the joy of reading.”

Gaurav Shrinagesh, CEO of Penguin Random House India, SEA & MENA, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating: “At Penguin, we believe in the transformative power of reading. The #UberReads campaign offers a diverse selection of books, from fiction to self-help, ensuring there's something for every reader. This collaboration with Uber showcases the creative potential of bringing two brands together with a shared vision.”

The #UberReads-branded buses feature a curated selection of Penguin titles, encouraging passengers to pick up a book and enjoy it during their commute. Riders are invited to return the book to its place for the next passenger before exiting the bus.
