URL wars?
Url shorteners have led to a standoff between Google and Facebook who decided to announce their shortened urls on the same day.
Google which goes by goo.gl and Facebook- by fb.me have different interpretations of the same- with Google feeding of Feedburner and Google scrolls, which enable any url to be shortened using Feedburning and the Google toolbar. Facebook, on the other hand, has limited use of its shortener although it has been active on its mobile platform for a while.
The leader in url shorteners, bit.ly, to contend with Facebook and Google has launched its own url shorthener.; NY Times can now access ny.tims with all bit.ly feautures, taking url shortening to a new level.
