Walt Disney acquires Marvel

The Walt Disney has finally acquired Marvel Entertainment Inc. for a sum of $4.3 billion.

Shareholders of Marvel finally gave in and have approved the acquisition. This new step has broadened Disney's portfolio, which already has strong following.

This is Disney's largest acquisition, after it acquired Pixer Animations.

According to the reports, Disney is expected to explore almost all the characters of Marvel Comics but haspromised that there would be no "disneyfication" of Marvel's properties.

There are more than 5,000 characters in the Marvel franchise.
