Zomato enters 15-minute delivery race in India
Zomato has entered the ultra-fast food delivery market with a 15-minute delivery service, now live in cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai. While the company has not officially announced the feature, it is accessible on its app, marking a significant push into the competitive quick commerce space
How the Service Works
- Delivery Range: Orders are limited to restaurants within a two-kilometer radius, providing an efficient delivery window and a wider range compared to Swiggy’s 10-minute model.
- Curated Menus: The service offers quick-to-prepare dishes, handpicked from partner restaurants to ensure minimal preparation time.
This latest initiative builds on Zomato’s focus on convenience and speed, following the success of Bistro by Blinkit, the company’s quick commerce subsidiary that specializes in delivering snacks and ready-to-eat meals.
Facing the Competition
Zomato joins a crowded space, competing against established players like Ola Dash, which delivers food within 10 minutes in Bengaluru, and Zepto Café, catering to fast deliveries of beverages and light meals.
A Revival of Quick Commerce
This isn’t Zomato’s first attempt at ultra-fast food delivery. The company piloted a 10-minute service in 2022 across Bengaluru, Gurugram, and Delhi but discontinued the project in early 2023.
Zomato’s re-entry into the quick delivery market underlines its commitment to meeting the evolving demands of modern customers, where speed and convenience have become the norm. By leveraging its restaurant network and logistics, Zomato aims to set a new standard in the quick commerce ecosystem.
