ANI sues PTI for copyright infringement over flight video

News Agency ANI has accused PTI of copying a video shot by its journalist on a Spicejet flight experiencing technical difficulties. The Delhi High Court has summoned PTI in response to the copyright infringement lawsuit.

ANI claims PTI copied a video showing passenger discomfort due to a malfunctioning air conditioner during a heatwave.

ANI is seeking ₹2 crores in damages and a permanent injunction to prevent PTI from using their original content. PTI argues they will remove the video and denies needing to apologize, claiming the content originated from a third party. The court has sought PTI's response and will hear the case again on August 9th.

ANI alleges their journalist filmed the video on board the Delhi-Darbhanga Spicejet flight and published it on their social media platform (presumably X, formerly Twitter). They claim PTI then published similar videos shortly afterwards.
