Delhi HC Order to block Hindutva Watch challenged by X
The Delhi Court order fir blocking 'Hindutva Watch' account has been challenged by X (formerly Twitter). US based project 'Hindutva Watch' claims to be documenting hate crimes against religious minorities in India. Referring to the directive by the Government of India for blocking the account. X claimed that the case has inadequate justification for blocking 'Hindutva Watch ' under Section 69A of the IT Act.
Founder of HIndutva Watch, Raqib Hameed Naik fine a writ petition in April in Delhi High Court, challening the order of blocking. Besides the Review Committe findings were questioned by him;
This comes in the wake of the rising cases of stringent restrictions on social media platform with respect to posting content and freedom of speech.
