Discovery Travel and Living aims at No. 1 position amongst English entertainment channels
Adgully had reported this on January 8th 2010 that, the channel has got up, close and personal with the nation's heartthrob and will bring you the 10 episode weekly show "Living With A Superstar - Shah Rukh Khan" starting February 26, where you will get to know your favourite star inside out.
The camera team of the show has been following the star across different cities of the world for last one year, capturing the moments in the life of the Badshah of Bollywood, be it on sets of a film or in his home. The show is said to have a huge budget of Rs 10-20 crore and will be telecast in 30 countries across the globe.
Travel and living caters to a niche target audience and with this initiative the channels seems to be aiming masses this time.
Rahul Johri, Sr. Vice President ' India operations, Discovery Network, speaks exclusively to Adgully about the show and the idea behind the money raking plan.
Adgully Correspondent (Ag): What kind of response have you received from the advertisers?
Rahul Johri (RJ): "Living with a Superstar- Shah Rukh Khan" is our biggest production ever in India. It is receiving matching response from the advertisers from across categories.
Ag: What kind of response are you expecting from the audience?
RJ: It is our belief that it will be one of the biggest series launch on Indian television this year. The series will present the unseen world of Shah Rukh Khan, for the first time ever, whose popularity cuts across all sections across India.
This show will further increase the channel appeal. The series equally demonstrates the channel's leadership and its programming ingenuity in redefining lifestyle television.
Ag: What will be the time band at which the series will telecast?
RJ: The 10 part series will premiere every Friday, 9 pm starting February 26th 2010
Ag: Which other big names and stars are you planning to bring after SRK?
RJ: We are always evaluating new and exciting programme concepts. I cannot share more on that front at the moment
