Social media to buzz the digital world

Social Media is the buzz word in the digital world now a days, which has caught up everyone's fancy. As a result, it has also become the most debatable topic in the field of marketing and advertising globally, and India is not an exception to this.

In an attempt to contribute to this Ignitee Digital Solutions along with IAMAI organised a panel discussion with the theme of "How to use Social Media to build your brand." Explaining the need for the discusscussion V. Ramani, Co-Founder & Vice Chairman, Ignitee Digital Solutions, said, "The aim of the discussion was to showcase the underlying opportunities associated with this medium. Also, to awake organisations towards the tremendous potential Social Media can offer in expanding brand presence in an economical manner."

The panelists were - V. Ramani, Co-Founder & Vice Chairman, Ignitee Digital Solutions, Abdul Khan, CMO, Tata Docomo, Sanjay Tripathy, EVP-Marketing, HDFC Standard Life Insurance, Rammohan Sundaram, Founder, CEO & MD, Networkplay.in, Vijay Iyer, Director of Strategy and Brand Solutions, Komli Media and Quateel Ahmed, Sr. VP-Advertising, S Kumars Ltd. Atul Hedge, Ignitee Digital Solutions moderated the discussion.

All the panelists had their own view point on the topic, which they shared with the audience. To begin with Ahmed, explained, "One of the biggest reason why the medium is suffering is value of expenditure is not measureable and in Indian Market RoI is the key word." On the same line, Tripathy, opined, "We will have to come out of the CPC and CPT model that the industry follows blindly." On the other hand Sundaram, said, "The size of the country and the internet penetration is a big reason why India is lagging behind in the area and not getting what they deserve."

Iyer, foresees, "This medium is here to stay and the clients need to listen to the agencies what they have to say and this can prove to be very beneficial." For the betterment of the medium, Khan, summed up, "We will need to bring the big guns of the digital world to come and talk for the medium and promote the medium and then I guess we can expect good result out of it."

With the improving internet penetration in the country and the increasing usage of social media, it seems that social media has a huge market.
