You recently joined Dabur India as Lead - Digital Marketing. How are you approaching this role? What is your vision to fortify a legacy brand like Dabur in the digital space?
Growing up, Dabur was a staple in our household – products like Dabur Honey, Chyawanprash, Hajmola, and Red Paste were trusted favourites for decades. So, stepping into the role of Lead - Digital Marketing at such an iconic brand feels like coming full circle. My focus will be on harnessing data-driven insights and capitalizing on emerging digital trends to amplify Dabur’s legacy. The goal is to seamlessly merge our deep-rooted heritage with cutting-edge digital strategies, fostering meaningful consumer engagement and expanding our presence across key platforms.
How do you view the trajectory of your career so far? What have been the key milestones?
I started my career in an agency, where I gained hands-on experience working with various brands. Over the years, I transitioned to leading digital strategy in-house for brands, including scaling digital channels and launching new markets. Being on both sides of the business has shaped my approach, focusing on data-led strategies and building strong brand partnerships. It’s been a rewarding journey of learning and growth.
Could you walk us through your approach to digital marketing? How do you keep yourself on top of your game?
I believe in a data-first approach combined with creativity. Keeping up with industry trends, experimenting with Gen AI, and leveraging automation are key. Staying connected with a network of industry experts also helps me bring the latest insights into our digital strategies.
Could you tell us about the icons and mentors who have helped shape your career and your vision?
My mother has been a constant source of motivation. Her strength, dedication, and unyielding belief in the power of hard work have been a constant source of inspiration for me. Watching her overcome challenges with grace taught me the value of perseverance and staying true to one’s values, no matter the circumstances.
I’ve been inspired by visionary leaders like Ratan Tata, Steve Jobs, and Larry Page, who exemplify resilience, innovation, and a relentless growth mindset.
I’ve been fortunate to have incredible mentors who’ve shaped my journey, but Jayant Kapre stands out. During a particularly tough phase in my career, his guidance was invaluable. He didn’t just share industry insights; he offered life lessons and the kind of support that helped me rebuild my confidence and refine my approach. I owe a lot of my growth and resilience to his belief in me.
I’ve always looked up to leaders who focus on people-first strategies, innovation, and creating lasting value, and I try to bring those principles into my work.
How do you balance your various responsibilities, and what are the main challenges you face in overseeing multiple digital marketing initiatives?
Balancing diverse digital initiatives requires prioritization and a collaborative approach. The main challenge is aligning quick execution with long-term brand strategy, especially when working across multiple geographies. Clear communication and a data-focused mindset help in overcoming these hurdles.
What is your mantra for maintaining a healthy work-life balance? What would be your advice to young executives who feel stressed in their workplace?
My mantra for maintaining work-life balance is “Prioritize and Pace”. I believe in the power of planning, taking breaks, and making time for activities that recharge me. For young executives feeling stressed, I would advise them to focus on time management, delegate when possible, and not be afraid to ask for help. It’s important to remember that balance is an ongoing process, and taking care of yourself enables you to perform better in the long run.
How do you plan out your work day to increase your efficiencies and get the maximum work done?
I start my day by quickly reviewing key metrics to stay aligned with goals, then prioritize urgent tasks. I block time for focused work and use time management tools to stay organized. Regular check-ins with my team help maintain alignment and flexibility in our execution, ensuring we stay on track and adapt as needed.
You have won numerous industry accolades as a digital leader. What are the qualities and achievements that have kept you at the forefront?
I believe my growth has been shaped by a willingness to learn, a creative problem-solving approach, and a strong focus on data and insights. The projects I’ve been a part of were successful thanks to collaborative teamwork and the innovative mindset we fostered together. Any recognition or awards I’ve received are a testament to the shared effort and dedication of everyone I’ve worked with, rather than just my contribution. I’m grateful for these opportunities and motivated to keep delivering impactful results.
