Parul Gulati on creating a brand that resonates with authenticity and purpose
In a recent interview with Adgully, Parul Gulati, marketing maven and Founder of Nish Hair, shared her insights on entrepreneurship, brand building, and empowering women in the business world.
“Nish Hair’s journey began with a vision of leaving a lasting legacy,” as Gulati expressed. Beyond mere profitability, her aim was to create a brand that resonated with authenticity and purpose. The pivotal moment came with an appearance on ‘Shark Tank’, where the brand received not just funding, but also garnered invaluable trust and respect from the public eye. Gulati emphasized that it was the recognition and validation from ‘Shark Tank’ that propelled Nish Hair’s growth, more than the financial backing itself.
Gulati attributed Nish Hair’s remarkable 4x growth in sales to a combination of factors, notably her inherent knack for marketing and a strategic shift towards investing in marketing efforts. With a newfound focus on promoting the brand through various channels, including sponsorship of events like the Women’s Cricket IPL and strategic ad placements, Nish Hair expanded its reach and visibility.
From a modest 11-member team to a robust workforce of 33, Nish Hair’s expansion underscored Gulati’s commitment to empowering women. Operating with an all-female team, Gulati emphasized the importance of each member’s contribution and shared experiences. Despite the increasing workload, the team remained dedicated and ambitious, embodying the ethos of a startup where everyone wears multiple hats to drive success.
Gulati’s advocacy for women entrepreneurs extended beyond her own brand. Through collaborations and support on social media, particularly Instagram, she championed smaller women-led businesses, recognizing the challenges they face in securing funding and recognition. By leveraging her platform to promote and uplift fellow female founders, Gulati aimed to level the playing field and foster a supportive ecosystem for women in business.
Gulati shared a message of empowerment for aspiring entrepreneurs, urging them to seize the moment and take action. Dispelling the myth of a “right time” to start a business, she emphasized the importance of execution and perseverance. Drawing on her own journey, Gulati encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to embrace the mantra of “just do it,” echoing the sentiments of the iconic Nike slogan.
