Sanjay Basu & Anurag Choudhary acquire Times Group’s ‘EiSamay’

Sanjay Basu and Anurag Chaudhury have acquired the Bengali daily newspaper 'Ei Samay' from the Times Group. The acquisition was made through Tidings Media and Communications Pvt Ltd, a company established on April 18 and operating out of the East India House in Kolkata. The deal's financial details have not been disclosed.

'Ei Samay', launched by the Times Group in 2012, was their first foray into Indian language newspapers. It competes with established Bengali newspapers such as Anandabazar Patrika and Bartaman Patrika. Despite efforts by the Times Group to sell 'Ei Samay' for some time, the deal was finalized with Basu and Chaudhury instead of another media house.
