Thane School abuzz with Honda's interactive road safety campaign

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) continues to prioritize road safety through impactful awareness campaigns. Recently, a significant campaign was conducted at TMC School in Thane, where more than 1800 students and staff members participated in various interactive activities designed to promote road safety.

The campaign included safety riding theory sessions, danger prediction training, road safety quizzes, helmet awareness, and riding trainer sessions. These activities were aimed at engaging participants and fostering a culture of safety.

HMSI emphasizes the importance of educating children about road safety, believing that early awareness can lead to accident-free roads in the future. The company regularly conducts similar programs across schools, colleges, and government institutions, reaching diverse age groups.

The success of the Thane campaign was made possible with the support of TMC School authorities. HMSI extends its gratitude to them and reaffirms its commitment to creating safer roads and reducing accidents.

Since its inception in Maharashtra, HMSI has educated nearly 300,000 individuals, including adults and children, on responsible road usage and safe riding habits. Nationwide, the company has reached over 6 million people with its road safety initiatives.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India’s CSR Commitment to Road Safety

In 2021, Honda set a global vision to achieve zero traffic collision fatalities involving its motorcycles and automobiles by 2050. HMSI aligns with this vision and the Indian government’s goal of reducing fatalities by half by 2030.

A key aspect of this goal is instilling a positive mindset towards road safety in children and continuing their education thereafter. HMSI's programs aim to create a safety culture in young minds, turning them into safety ambassadors for a safer society.

HMSI conducts daily programs through its 10 adopted Traffic Training Parks (TTP) and 6 Safety Driving Education Centers (SDEC) across India. These initiatives have reached over 5.7 million Indians. The National Road Safety Awareness program combines fun and scientific learning through:

  1. Scientifically Devised Learning Module: Skilled instructors provide theory sessions on road signs, markings, driver duties, riding gear, posture, and safe riding etiquette.
  2. Practical Learning: Participants engage in special training activities on Honda’s virtual riding simulator, experiencing over 100 possible road dangers before actual riding.
  3. Interactive Sessions: Danger prediction training, known as Kiken Yosoku Training (KYT), enhances rider/driver sensitivity to danger and ensures safe driving behavior.
  4. Honing Riding Skills: Existing riders, including students and school staff, improve their skills through slow riding activities and navigating narrow planks.

HMSI remains dedicated to road safety awareness across all societal segments, using unique approaches to cater to everyone from school children to corporate professionals.
