After Zepto Cafe Blinkit launches Bistro

In an exciting move within the food delivery landscape, Blinkit has announced the launch of Bistro, a new app dedicated to delivering high-quality, canteen-style food within 10 minutes. This standalone service, separate from both Blinkit and its parent company Zomato, is currently being tested in select locations in Gurugram to determine its product-market fit.

Bistro promises a unique food delivery experience by focusing on innovation across the supply chain. According to Albinder Dhindsa, CEO of Blinkit, the company is investing in infrastructure and R&D to create fresh, tasty dishes in under five minutes. Unlike many quick-service food models, Bistro emphasizes healthy and freshly prepared meals, avoiding preservatives, food processors, and microwaved items entirely.

“We believe high-quality food that is more accessible has the potential to induct more customers into 'outside of home' food consumption," Dhindsa shared in his announcement on X (formerly Twitter). The service is designed to bridge the gap between quality and convenience, ensuring customers enjoy freshly prepared, hot meals delivered in record time.

To achieve this, Bistro has partnered with innovative companies in the food industry and plans to continue supporting the ecosystem as it scales.



In a follow-up tweet, Dhindsa clarified Bistro’s independence from Zomato. He emphasised that Zomato will not use its app to market Bistro or introduce private brands that could compete with its restaurant partners. “Bistro is a standalone team, with a standalone app, and no Zomato restaurant data has been used,” he noted. This approach reflects Zomato’s commitment to maintaining a clear distinction between its restaurant partner network and new business initiatives.

As Bistro begins its journey in Gurugram, it aims to redefine quick-service food delivery with its innovative approach to fresh and high-quality meals. If successful, Bistro could become a significant player in the evolving food delivery space, further solidifying Blinkit's position as a leader in innovation.
