BARC initiates a series of industry interactions

The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) in an effort to get acceptance from the television ecosystem , to clarify doubts and render the functioning of the system transparent has been communicating with the industry on a regular basis. They have now initiated a series of industry interactions the first of which is scheduled to be held on Thursday, 25th July 2013 at Vivanta By Taj, Bengaluru.

Representatives of advertisers, agencies and broadcasters from Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai are expected to be present at the meeting. The council will be represented by BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta, BARC Vice President Mubin Khan, BARC member of technical committee Paritosh Joshi and a technical committee member from South region.

Commenting on the agenda of the meeting Khan says, “The meeting is being organised to share the latest updates from BARC. Through this, we will also inform the parties involved about the status of the activities undertaken by the council.”

“We will have more open houses at later stages, and soon an open house in Mumbai too,” adds Khan.

The meetings will help BARC receive valuable feedback and suggestions from industry constituents. It will also ensure that the new measurement system is completely robust, transparent and represents the entire broadcast value chain.

Earlier in the month the council had sent out emails to advertisers, agencies and broadcasters to inform them of the latest updates and invite the players responses. The initiatives that are being undertaken by BARC proves that this time around the council is keen to sort out matters plaguing the industry.
