Bombay Times celebrates 30 years of glamour and culture
India’s most iconic lifestyle and entertainment supplements, Bombay Times and Delhi Times, officially concluded their grand 30th Anniversary celebrations. Marking three decades of defining glamour, entertainment, and culture, the milestone event began with Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who unveiled a special tribute to Bombay Times by revealing a life-sized front page of the publication at The Times of India office.
Adding vibrant hues to the celebrations, an experiential Street Carnival took place outside The Times of India office from December 19 to December 20. The carnival served as a time capsule, transporting visitors through three glorious decades of Bombay Times' most unforgettable moments. Streets were adorned with vintage Bollywood posters and a glitzy red-carpet experience, along with interactive photo booths for fun, nostalgic snapshots. Entertainment artists such as the Golden Statue Man, Mirror Man, and skilled jugglers added to the festive vibe, while interactive fun counters featuring tarot readings and a bracelet-making corner engaged visitors. The carnival witnessed attendance from popular celebrities including Ram and Gautami Kapoor, Taha Shah, Arjun Bijlani, Iqbal Khan, Sheeba, and many others, who relived cherished memories, explored a walk-through timeline, and struck poses at the photo booths.
To commemorate this milestone, Bombay Times and Delhi Times released a special edition on December 21st. This collector's issue took readers on an evocative journey back to the 90s era – a transformative decade for both entertainment and lifestyle journalism. Launched in 1994, these trailblazing publications were among the first to recognize the cultural weight of Bollywood, fashion, food, fitness, and high society alongside hard news. They carved a unique niche, shaping a vibrant space that continues to thrive even today. The special edition featured a nostalgic rewind to the mid-90s, revisiting an era of blockbuster movies running for 25-50 weeks, throwbacks to the days of cassette tapes, and the rise of Page 3 culture. Readers also explored untold stories of iconic celebrities and their remarkable journeys, along with an exclusive look at the people and moments that defined an era. This special issue was not just a magazine – it was a heartfelt tribute to the past and a celebration of the legacy Bombay Times and Delhi Times have built over three decades.
Reflecting on the significance of this milestone, Sivakumar Sundaram, CEO, Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd., shared: "Completing 30 years of Bombay Times and Delhi Times is a moment of immense pride. These publications have become an integral part of our readers' lives, capturing the pulse of India's entertainment and lifestyle landscape. The 30th Anniversary celebrations were our way of expressing gratitude to our readers, partners, and the world of showbusiness for their unwavering support through the years."
As Bombay Times and Delhi Times continue to redefine the intersection of entertainment and lifestyle journalism, their 30th Anniversary celebrations stood as a testament to their unparalleled legacy and enduring impact on readers across the nation.
