Jwala Kumar on how Explurger is revolutionizing social media engagement

Speaking at the second edition of Adgully’s CMOs’ Charcha - Kolkata Chapter 2024 yesterday (June 14, 2024), Jwala Kumar, VP - Monetization & Strategic Partnerships, Explurger, shared his insights on ‘Revolutionizing Social Media Engagement: The Explurger Experience’.
At the outset, Jwala Kumar introduced Explurger, saying, “The word derives from the urge to explore. Co-founded by Sonu Sood and Jitin Bhatia, Explurger is the first global travel social media app gratifying its users for being socially active. Explurger helps its users monetize, giving rewards to all its users for being socially active. It includes hikers, bikers, solo travelers, family travelers, spiritual travelers, frequent flyers and more.”
He further said that though the app is just two years old, it has garnered an over 10 million highly active user base not just in India, but across 75 countries. “It’s all organic growth. We have not done any sort of paid promotions to acquire such a huge interactive and engaged audience on our platform,” he stressed.
Speaking about the competitive advantage of Explurger among the plethora of social platforms, Kumar pointed out, “Of the 10 million-plus highly engaged users that we have on our platform, 80% are hardcore travelers. When it comes to travelling, there is a substantial cost attached to it. Hence, whoever is on this platform, have the intent of travel, and they have the spending capacity to be there on the platform. 88% users are from Tier 1 and Tier 2 markets. Hence, brands can target them.”
Highlighting the app’s USP, he said, “One can create their travel diary on our platform, so that they can keep track of how many miles they have traveled, the cities that they have visited, the countries and continents that they have traveled to, as well as the posts that they have done. All at the click of a button. It’s all possible because Explurger is the first AI-powered social media app. It picks your latitude and longitude and gives you the entire history.”
“The second USP is gamification,” he said, explaining, “There are six levels in this gamification. Suppose you are at one level, you will be able to get certain reward. Each level decides the rewards that you will get. There are hundreds of brands already active on our platform, who are giving certain discounts and rewards.”
Speaking about Google incubation, Kumar said, “We are backed by Google and for the first time it is equity free funding by Google. We have also been awarded among the top ten innovative apps by Google. We are part of Google Apps Scalar Academy.”
