Jatin Varma-led team exits ops post Comic Con India acquisition

Comic Con India, the nation’s flagship pop culture celebration, is entering a new chapter following its full acquisition by NODWIN Gaming in January 2024 for ₹55 crore. This strategic move has set the stage for a pivotal leadership transition, as Founder Jatin Varma—who launched the platform in 2011—along with co-founder Karan Kalra and Event Director Sonal Varma, steps away from day-to-day operations. While exiting their operational roles, the founding trio will continue to guide the festival's evolution in a strategic and advisory capacity.

Since the acquisition, Comic Con India has expanded its presence with new editions in Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Pune, building on its well-established events in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad.

From humble beginnings, Jatin Varma and his team have grown Comic Con India into a cultural juggernaut—championing the spirit of fandom and connecting artists, creators, fans, and global franchises in an immersive environment. Their dedication to comics, gaming, cosplay, and storytelling laid the groundwork for India’s vibrant fan culture.

As Comic Con India embraces its next phase under new leadership, it is expected to retain its fan-first ethos while exploring fresh formats and experiences to meet the country’s growing appetite for pop culture. An announcement revealing the new core leadership team is expected in the coming weeks.
