Meta collaborates with Reuters to bring real-time news to AI chatbot

Meta has announced that its AI chatbot will now provide real-time answers to user inquiries about current news using Reuters content. This collaboration is Meta's latest move to partner with a prominent tech company and a publisher. This partnership, Meta’s first in several years, comes as the company has reduced news distribution on its platforms due to regulatory and publisher concerns around misinformation and revenue sharing.

Reuters has worked with Meta on fact-checking since 2020. Now, Meta’s AI chatbot, available on Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, will leverage Reuters content for up-to-date responses; however, it is unclear if this content will also train Meta’s large-language model.
