Prathyusha Agarwal joins Flipkart's Shopsy as VP

Prathyusha Agarwal, a seasoned executive with a wealth of experience in major corporations, has joined Flipkart’s social commerce platform Shopsy as Vice President, according to media sources. Shopsy, a hyper-value e-commerce platform, competes directly with players like Meesho and Amazon Bazaar.

Agarwal, a former senior executive at Byju’s and Unilever, brings a diverse background to her new role at Shopsy. She was one of three senior executives to resign from Byju’s in August last year as the edtech firm navigated through significant challenges, including due diligence issues, legal battles with lenders, difficulties in raising fresh capital, and a markdown in its valuation by investors. At Byju’s, Agarwal served as the Chief Business Officer.

An alumna of IIM Ahmedabad and IIT Madras, Agarwal's career spans over two decades. Before Byju’s, she was the Chief Consumer and Data Officer at ZEE, where she spearheaded business transformation initiatives and drove brand growth across TV and OTT platforms. Agarwal also played a crucial role in launching TataCLiQ, Tata's e-commerce venture, as the Head of Marketing. Her extensive experience includes serving as Vice President of Marketing and Analytics at HDFC Life, leading brand strategy for the Star TV network, and founding 'All OK Tech Support'.

Additionally, she has worked with Market Gate Consulting and held various sales and marketing roles at Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL). Agarwal’s appointment comes as Flipkart continues to bolster its leadership team amid notable departures. Prabh Simran Singh, Senior Vice President of Customer Growth and Retention, Marketing, and Ads at Flipkart, has resigned and will be leaving in the coming weeks. Additionally, Sankalp Mehrotra, Vice President of Monetisation, is also serving his notice period and will exit the company shortly. Flipkart's strategic hires and leadership changes reflect its ongoing efforts to adapt and strengthen its market position in the competitive e-commerce landscape.
